I GOT MARRIED
POV: Preparing to walk down the aisle to a Taylor Swift song
Over the summer, sometime around when Taylor got her ears pierced and a certain loving album celebrated its anniversary, I got married to my partner (ahem - now husband 🥹) of ten years.
Like a lot of Taylor fans, I’ve grown up in the wake of her music. Her songs have been the soundtrack to all the key moments in my life - from first crushes to first heartbreaks and a million other fragile, emotionally turbulent, and highly specific moments in between that only Taylor can capture with her open heart and attuned pen.
Over the course of running this blog for the last decade some of you have also been witness to a few other of my personal milestones: Graduating college, starting my first job, buying my first home, getting engaged, signing a book deal … and now saying “I do”.
A more poetic person than I might say:
We were both young when I first saw you.
That this love is difficult, but it’s real.
That I’ll never have to be alone.
That I picked out a white dress.
That it’s a love story. And I said yes.

Of the many things I admire about Taylor’s style, it’s always in the little things and details. Like wearing a coat from one of your closest friend’s fashion ventures or opting for a new-to-you brand that’s a small, female owned business. In the latter case, her bag here is a new smaller brand to her owned and operated by two Turkish sisters in Istanbul.

- This is another copy + paste Taylor outfit for me (they’re usually easy to spot when defined by a neutral/black-filled palette and very good outerwear)

Custom ring
What a beautiful ring from a lovely friend. Keleigh Teller confirmed via her Instagram that the large stunner that Taylor wore while out and about on her birthday was a gift that Keleigh had made for Taylor because friends let friends bejeweled. Keleigh also confirmed the stones here as opal and blue topaz.
Will update on designer if it ever comes to light as confirmed (you know I love a confirmed source around here) but based on the distinctive colour and edges of the box - my best guess is Cartier. Which, if true, feels so on brand for 2023 Taylor as she’s expanded her luxury jewelry collection into wearing a few Cartier pieces this year including one of their iconic Juste Un Clou necklaces and a vintage necklace.

Rails custom skirt - not available for purchase
Taylor has been a longtime fan of a plaid mini skirt but it’s also an item that has had a resurgence in her wardrobe these last few months. Skirt-wearing Taylor has two modes: chic and polished with a tucked in top/bodysuit and tall heeled boots or cozily retro with an oversized sweater or sweatshirt and flat shoes. In this case, it’s fun to see when a brand picks up on that love and creates a custom piece to reflect her style with that in mind.
Known best for their plaid shirts, Rails is a brand that Taylor is deeply familiar with - having worn them as early as 2012. Rails VP Linney Warren described Taylor to People as “the ultimate muse for this season’s schoolgirl trend.” Adding, “When we were imagining custom pieces to create for her, we wanted to give her things that she could seamlessly incorporate into her wardrobe — we were thrilled when she chose to style it back to a vintage sweatshirt for the Chiefs game for a bit of nostalgia!”
Given that Taylor’s skirt is custom, it isn’t available for purchase but the Prim skirt is the closest match currently retailing.

Vintage ‘Kansas City Chiefs Sweatshirt’ - no longer available
My best guess is this appears to be yet another vintage piece of KC merchandise for Taylor - a similar one pictured here in red. For me, this tactic is fun to see Taylor’s longtime love of vintage fashion (dating back even to 2010-2012) evolve into a way that she can express her recent love of sports (*wink*) while also shopping more sustainably - and often from small businesses.
